Can I list my business on ChatGPT?

No. ChatGPT has no business directory or submission form for local services. It finds businesses through web search, so you get into its answers by being listed, reviewed and described well on the sites it reads: directories, review platforms, Bing Places and your own website. OpenAI's merchant programs are for products sold online, not local services.

There's no ChatGPT listing

Unlike Google, which has Business Profiles, or Bing, which has Bing Places, ChatGPT doesn't run a business directory you can join. There's no claim process, no verification and no profile to fill in for a dentist, lawyer or plumber.

OpenAI does run programs for online merchants to have products appear in shopping results. Those are for retail products, not local service businesses.

How ChatGPT finds you instead

When someone asks for a local recommendation, ChatGPT searches the web and reads what it finds. Your "listing" in ChatGPT is effectively the sum of:

The listings worth claiming

  1. Google Business Profile: for Google's AI surfaces, and because its details get copied widely.
  2. Bing Places: for Bing and the services that use it. See Bing for AI search.
  3. Apple Business Connect: for Apple Maps and Siri.
  4. The directories cited for your trade and city. See the directories AI cites.

Beware of "ChatGPT listing" services

Any service offering to "list you on ChatGPT" is, at best, doing the directory and website work above under a misleading name. At worst, it's selling something that doesn't exist. Ask exactly what they'll do and where.
