Do I need a GEO agency, or can I do it myself?

Most of the work is doable yourself if you have a few hours a month: a complete Google profile, a review routine, accurate listings, a clear homepage and regular measurement. An agency is worth it when you're in a competitive category, don't have the time, or need outreach and content at scale. Hire someone who measures before and after, and never someone who guarantees placement.

When an agency is worth it

Questions to ask before hiring

  1. How will you measure results? Look for a baseline of AI answers before work starts and the same test after.
  2. What exactly will you do each month? Specific tasks tied to specific gaps.
  3. What do you promise? The right answer is work and measurement, not placement.
  4. Who owns the accounts? Your profiles and listings should stay in your name.
