How do I fix wrong information about my business in AI?

You can't edit an AI's answer directly, but you can fix what it reads. Wrong details usually come from an outdated or incorrect page somewhere: an old directory listing, a stale profile, a confusing page on your own site. Find the source, correct it, make every listing consistent, and use the feedback buttons on the AI answer to report the error.
Step 1: Find where the error comes from
Ask the AI about your business by name and look at the sources it cites. Common culprits:
- An old directory listing with your previous address or phone number.
- A Google or Bing profile with outdated hours.
- A news article or list that describes a former service.
- A page on your own site that's out of date.
- Another business with a similar name.
Search for the wrong detail in quotes (an old phone number, for example) to find every page that still has it.
Step 2: Correct the source
- Profiles and listings: claim them and update the details. See NAP consistency.
- Your own site: fix or redirect outdated pages; make the correct facts plain and prominent.
- Third-party articles: ask the publisher for a correction, politely, with evidence.
- Name confusion: make your full business name, city and services very clear everywhere, so AI can tell you apart.
Step 3: Report the answer
Each AI product has a feedback option on answers (thumbs down or "report"). Use it, and say what's wrong. It may not change the answer immediately, but it's the channel the providers offer.
Step 4: Check again
After the sources are fixed and recrawled, usually in a few weeks, ask again. AI that searches the web tends to correct itself once the pages it reads are right.
When the AI makes it up
Sometimes an AI states something no source supports, called a hallucination. Clear, consistent facts across your listings and website make that less likely, because the AI has solid material to use. See the glossary entry on hallucination.
